Unlocking Good Fortune: The Power of Trust and Letting Go
Old wisdom says that a person's fate is preordained. Many believe this with deep conviction. However, what is truly fated is only what we call "destiny." The forces that influence and ultimately change the course of our lives are our fortune and our actions.
Ancient teachings say that fate is set by the heavens, but luck is something we create ourselves. In the end, it is our own actions that shape our destiny.
In life, there are two things that, if understood sooner, can lead to a smoother journey, filled with good fortune:
Trust in others, and The wisdom of letting go.
1. A Person without Trust Cannot Stand Firm
This means that those who live by their word can earn the trust of others, even those who disagree with them. Similarly, those who live by honor and integrity will attract people who support them.
A wise saying goes: "A person who is untrustworthy cannot be relied upon in any way." In other words, someone who lacks integrity is destined to fail, no matter how much they try. A person who doesn’t keep their word is not just unreliable, but also, in the eyes of others, someone who is unworthy of trust.
In real life, the importance of trust is self-evident. You cannot make true friends without trust, and even your closest family will grow to despise you if you are dishonest. These people are often selfish and unpredictable, with only their own interests in mind. Dealing with them will inevitably lead to loss and disappointment.
A trustworthy person, on the other hand, enjoys a good reputation. People are eager to engage with them because they feel secure and reliable. This is why a person with integrity is often someone whose future is full of promise.
Take the example of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. Known for his honesty and integrity, Lincoln was often referred to as “Honest Abe.” There was a famous story early in his career where, after making an error in a small transaction, he walked several miles to return a few cents to a customer, stating that he could not live with the dishonor of having wronged someone, even over such a trivial amount. This commitment to honesty and trustworthiness ultimately earned him the respect and loyalty of those around him, and his legacy as a leader is rooted in his moral principles.
2. Letting Things Flow Naturally Leads to the Best Outcome
“Do not forget your origin, nor demand the final outcome. Accept everything with joy and let go of it without regret.”
This is the wisdom of flowing with life as it unfolds. It teaches us not to force things, to accept what comes with gratitude, and to embrace every moment as it is. Life is full of unpredictable twists and turns. We cannot always control the outcome, but we can control how we respond.
We often think that if we work hard enough, the results will align with our expectations. At the beginning of any journey, we are full of enthusiasm, but as things progress, we realize that not everything is going as planned. People may disappoint us, and situations might feel out of our control. At this point, it's easy to become disheartened and lose faith in the world.
However, there is no need for despair. We must understand that the results of everything are not random. They are the most reasonable and natural outcomes, given the circumstances. It is important to recognize that we should not try to force the course of events; the universe operates according to its own rhythms. To live in alignment with the natural flow, without disrupting it with our desires, is to truly embody wisdom.
When we stop trying to force our own outcomes and instead let things unfold naturally, we can experience peace of mind. Those who embrace this path are the "true individuals" who have freed themselves from the shackles of worldly desires. Such people may not necessarily lead conventionally successful lives, but their experiences are deeply rich and meaningful.
In this world, we are all seeking balance and peace. Meditation, mindfulness, and embracing the wisdom of the present moment can help us to tap into a deeper connection with ourselves and the universe. Through yoga, breathwork, and guided meditation, we learn how to ground ourselves in the present, open our hearts to our true purpose, and connect with the spirituality that transcends our everyday struggles. Self-care and mental health become a natural extension of this inner alignment, allowing us to face life's challenges with greater strength and serenity.
